Placemaths overture

Going away takes me to different stores and other ithems to be tempted to buy ;-/
Placemaths was what I found on sale this time , at Hemtex.
The one I had at home was almost 8 years old , in plastic and NOT inviting anymore.
The straw one on top is a plastic fabric, but the straw motif is very flattering I think. It is called "Beach"
These PM is a woven fabric , has the same pattern printed on it, but first one is in green tones.
Second pic. is in greay/black tones.
Could not deside which to choose, so I picked 4 of each.
They can be used together if nessesary.
Need I say I fancy straw prints?? What do you prefer: straw, grass , flower or leaves?

The Comfort Hood

A couple of weeks ago I made this for Daughter . She grabbed it and used it before I could take pic. of it. Last night I had the uppertunity for a modeling session.
I had this "Lobster Pot Yarns" in "New Sea Grass- color. Thick and jummy yarn.
On one of my surf rides online i stumbled over Helvellyn, a free Ravelry download.
Pattern made by Joli House and you can find her and her work here.

Instead of the twisted core attached in the original I mad a button hole and used one of Majas ceramic buttons.

I dropped the button holes back as well. Find this version much better. Followed the pattern for the back, just didn´t make the button holes.
I also made another adjustment to the pattern: When to close up for sowing the seems in the back of the hood together, I instead knitted the whole thing together as when I knit heals on socks.
It worked well and looks very nice.

Beates Zig Zags

I got around to knit a pair of mittens this weekend. I made so many pairs in this particular pattern . I don´t know really how many.
This pair is no different from the rest . A great fit and will be posted in my Ravelry group for January mittens Kal
Facts:
Yarn: Cornwall from Schoeller & Stahl.
70% virgin wool & 30% Plyacril.
Runs 100 m/ 50 gr.
Needles: 4mm.
I used about 75 gr. on the mittens.
The yarn has a lovley scale of natural and blues.

Scale of Blue

Hi there! We still have winter though normally we do have a lot of green here and there this time of year. Now it´s still white.
Don´t know if its global warming or not, but this has most surten been the coldest winter in 23 years. It still will be going on for at least 2-3 more weeks before its supost to be warmer.
One never know .
Sun has begun to shine alot more. Our day is now 1½ hr. longer than it was a month ago , which realy gives you more daylight. This pic if from Norway and captures the "blue hour" in the afternoon where it´s not quiet dark yet

This is from this morning. Beatiful sunrise at 8 am. walking to school.

Hours later yet another snowstorm hits Denmark. IVH!!!
Must admit I am a bit tired of snow, wind and storms. I dont want to showel more snow!!
I had it for this year! It ´s not charming anymore! I want it to go away!!
Any chance higher powers will listen?? Nah! didn´t think so.

8 am, still nice. Viktor walking ahead while mom plays with cell phone camera + handling the bike ( Flat tire & ) loaded with 2 backpacks)

Sinse all meetings for today was cansled ( Yoga too), because of the storm, we´re just hanging out at home, looking out at the bad weather .

Moments of longing

Gosh! As time flies by. I knit , but not as much as I want to- too many other things to take care of and handle.
I´ve joined the Ravelry group: NaKniMitMoKal and my 3 pair is almost there. One mitt is still to be casted on the needles( tonight maybe.....)-
The design is my own- 4 times 12 st. Knit 3, purl 3 all the way.
Make room for a thumb. Knit for as long as you please.
I finished this mitt with a crochet edge. Laying by it self it looks kind of goofy, but on it kind of cute I think. Yarn used: from stash. More details when second mitt is finished.
We still have a nice and cold weather here in Scandinavia. It ´s been a solid frosen ground for almost 8 weeks now. Not that much snow in Denmark, but it covers the ground. It swithces between windy and greay cold weather - to sun, bright & cold. It´s sure has been many years since we last had this kind of cold winter and lots of fjords and waters are covered with ice.
This is from Norway, where I was a couple of days ago- more snow, a bit colder and the whole landskape is tucked in. The huge river Glomma is covered with ice and everything looks like a farytail land. I don´t complain, but I sure look forward to a warmer spring and a Easter with some sun that makes you want to settle down in a corner of the pathio and feel the warmth of the sun. If you read between the lines in many blogs, I know many of you out there is longing for the same thing.
I am traveling up to snow and family company again wednesday. A longer stay in Norway this time ( 5 days)
Walking home from work/ school /- and the store last friday, Viktor and I ( my youngest) enjoyed each others company. With the weekend food stash in the basket on my bike, happy to have 2 whole days ahead ( not planned) filled with oportunities and possibilities. While walking I came across a pretty big branch of Larix / Lærketræ cones.
These cones are so cute and adorable- and a must have for a creative person like me . Haven´t had the time to take a walk in the woods to find some, and here it was just fallen down from it´s tree.
The branch was picked up and brought home on top of our groceries, schoolbags etc...
Now they look good among my candles, other big cones and outside on my garden bench.
Walking around as I do, I very often glance in other peoples gardens. Love to get ideas of bushes and trees that looks good all year around.
This bush Callicara Bodinieri looks spektacular fabulous .
This loveley purple colour and with the snow as background it´s a perfect match.
Wow - I must have one or two, when I get my own garden. As I want Big grass / straws, lupins , herbs and lots of other goodies.
Longing for Spring ? YES! Time for knitting? Also Yes!!

The princess and a bad wash

Princess Mitts is my second mitt to show this month-
Yarn used: Malabrigo- Kettle dyed pure merino wool from Malabrigo Yarn
colour is: # 66- Citrus
Needles is : 5 mm.
I love to knit with this yarn- It runs smoothly over the needles.
This is a another matter:
How the heck could I do this again????
Well - no excuse at all. Just didn´t pay attention to what I put in the washer!!
Really!!!
And this is just how gorgeous they used to look- Annies great yarn- buhuuu me!
I let felted socks be felted socks over the weekend and instead ( for comfort) found 3 balls of my dark greay Lodband/einband from Istex and a circular needle size 3.5 mm.
